When quotes go through emails, phone calls and spreadsheets
With a product that has many options, every manual step is a chance for an error.
Combinations that cannot be built. The customer asks for a configuration production cannot make, and it comes out after the order.
Prices recalculated by hand. Sales redo the numbers for every variant, and the price list in the spreadsheet is not always the current one.
Data typed twice. The agreed configuration has to be re-entered in Odoo for the quotation and again for production.

An example: from the configuration to a quotation in Odoo
The dealer configures the product in the browser and can only pick valid combinations. On confirmation, Odoo receives a quotation with the bill of materials already filled in and the right price list applied, and your sales office checks it before it goes out.

What to check before you start
Your Odoo version. From version 19 Odoo provides the JSON-2 external API, and the older XML-RPC and JSON-RPC endpoints are deprecated. A new integration should be written on JSON-2, so it does not have to be redone at the next upgrade.
Your Odoo plan. According to Odoo's documentation, access to data through the external API is available on the Custom plan, not on One App Free or Standard.
Your product rules. Before any 3D work we write down which combinations are possible and how the price is calculated, starting from what is already in Odoo.

Questions about a product configurator connected to Odoo
Can the configurator sit on our website?
Yes. It is embedded in the product page of your website, including WordPress, WooCommerce and Shopify sites, and sends the configuration to Odoo.
Do we need a specific Odoo plan?
Connecting an external configurator requires access to Odoo's external API, which according to the official documentation is available on the Custom plan and not on One App Free or Standard.
Can we just use Odoo's own product configurator?
Yes, when the product has few rules and is configured by your sales team inside Odoo. A custom 3D configurator is needed when the customer has to see the product while choosing it.
What reaches Odoo?
A quotation with the chosen variant, its attributes and the price, linked to the customer. From there it follows your usual Odoo flow to sales order and production.
Do you work with companies outside Italy?
Yes. Projects run remotely and in English. We are based in Italy (CET), so our working day overlaps with UK and European business hours and with US East Coast mornings.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the number of products and rules and on the integration. In the first call Davide gives you an order of magnitude of time and cost, and within 5 days you receive a proposal with timeline and quote.
